Hello! I'm Faith Van Wart, a Certified Photo Manager & Privacy Advocate based in Toronto and a proud member of The Photo Managers. After more than two decades as a Desktop and Electronic Publisher in the publishing industry, I founded Adventures-with-Photos to blend my professional expertise with my lifelong passion for telling stories behind the photos, sharing stories, and helping to create legacies for others.

For as long as I can remember, I've been captivated by the power of photographs to tell stories and preserve memories. Whether I'm behind the lens capturing moments or helping others share their experiences, I love bringing stories to life and creating lasting legacies. How a passion grew from a seed planted along my life's journey.

As with most passions, seeds are often planted along life's journey. For me, one of those seeds was planted on a visit to see my Aunt Thyra after my Uncle Bob had passed away. My uncle was the family photographer. Whether it was a wedding, anniversary, or a summer holiday my uncle was there to take pictures. When he died my aunt was left with a large brown soft-sided suitcase full of slides from the early 60s thru to the 90s, thousands of slides. 

They lived in Montreal and the rest of the family including their two sons were scattered across the country from east to west. During my visit, my aunt mentioned my uncle's slide collection and that she was not sure what to do with it. I was excited to see it. I sat on the floor for hours with a viewer that allowed me to insert one slide at a time. What I discovered were pictures of my grandparents' 50th wedding anniversary, an event I had attended as a young child but only had brief memories of. The memories came flooding back when I saw the picture of me wearing the little yellow dress trimmed with little white daisies my grandmother had made for me for that very special occasion. What an absolute treat. Many of the pictures had never been seen by other members of the family including a rare picture of my Great Aunt Violet.

Unfortunately, my visit was short so I didn't have time to view all of the slides. A few months later my aunt's health began to decline and my cousin came from Edmonton to move her back with him and his family. With only a short time to take care of my aunt's affairs and disassemble her apartment the suitcase got discarded. It has been about 20 years and it still breaks my heart when I think about that suitcase full of family memories and treasures gone. I vowed then that I would do whatever I could to help others not have to go through that same experience.
